Keynote speaker - Amanda Parezo’s

Amanda Parezo is an assistant professor and academic fieldwork coordinator for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at Thomas Jefferson University on their Center City campus. She graduated from Jefferson’s OT program in 2010 with her Master’s in OT and received her Doctorate in OT from Salus University in 2018. She has worked clinically for over 10 years, specifically with older adults with traumatic brain injury, and holds a specialty certificate in vision rehabilitation with the TBI population.

On May 19th, 2021 she was the victim of a random act of gun violence while sitting in a Philadelphia playground. The shooting left her paralyzed from the waist down due to the bullet. Since then, she has advocated for anti-violence programs and improved accessibility within the city, as well as educating the public about spinal cord injury and normalizing what it means to have a disability.
